A moment suspended in time is; quiet, awkward, focused, staged, still. In this series of images presented I’m exploring the concept of intimate moments, little fragments of time. The representation I’ve chosen to create is supposed to retain some mystery. Its painterly aesthetic qualities, and the decor of another era add to the series a staged feel. It is very reminiscent of a past time. I use that, paired with a slightly uncomforting subject matter make the images a little sad and creepy.
I aimed to create a series that was focused, awkward, and still. I am attempting to take an idea and construct a whole narrative around that moment. These images are staged in a way that conveys the transitioning story. I want the viewer to anticipate what will happen next. The fact that it doesn’t really go anywhere keeps the mystery and adds some eeriness!
